This Year’s Program

Dates

During Week 1, we will be looking at the Thread of Weaving through history from Jacob weaving Joseph’s coat of many colors to the first mechanized textile mills in Lowell, Massachusetts. Campers will discover a variety of weaving techniques through hands-on exploration. Our field trip will be to the Tsongas Industrial History Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Week 1 July 10-14

During Week 2, we will be studying God’s wonders at the Seashore.  Throughout the week we will be learning about the creatures that inhabit the area called the Tidal Zone, the place where land and sea meet. We will look for the many wonders of nature God has left for us: sandy beach, rocky shore,  tide pools. Our field trip will be to explore Plum Island: Parker River NWR.

During Week 3, we will learning about music and its influence on many cultures. The subject of the week is Making Melodies but we will find that melody is just one part of music.  At Camp Sonrise we have always used music as part of worship time each day. This week, music will be the central theme and we will look at music as a way to express ourselves. We will not be going on a field trip, but it will be coming to us as we experience African music with  Crocodile River Music.

Extended Hours AM (for a fee) 7:30–9:00 AM
Extended Hours PM (for a fee) 4:00–5:30 PM

Lunch

Each camper must bring his/her own lunch.
